"Try-Athletes": The Running Man

I was wondering what in the name of all that is holy would I write about tonite when it struck me... we are THREE QUARTERS OF THE WAY through our first goal... oh yeah, oh yeah *does the running man dance* so the fat and diabetes can SUCK IT (as some of my Compton kids would say)!!

Do you know that fat cells hold toxins and can cause you to have cancer? Now that is a roundabout way of saying it but this is true, Lisa said so. And Lisa is smart. So don't f*^% around, take care of your business. So cancer can suck it, too!

I have dropped 2 belt notches, ladies and gentlemen. I have also begun to recuperate from the plague.

Also, Jenny told me to stop calling her stairs 'the exorcist stairs' because that is scary.

At MacIsland, the girls waited to see the demo of the Superhero Strip, so I obliged. I encouraged them to do the same. It's all in the clothes that you wear - on the upswing, shirt over the head, and on the downswing, the pants & socks come off - and....... done! Secret: you have to wear a loose shirt and stretchy pants.

These are the same types of clothes that you have to wear to the airport - no belts, no metal things so you get hung up in airport security. People, make your life easy at times like these. When going through airport security or going to the pool, wear non-restrictive clothing. It just makes things come off and go back on quicker and easier. No hassle.

In the pool, Lisa started hyperventilating because she was not breathing enough. I was breathing enough this time around and swimming more. By the end of the night, I was starting to work on breathing on both sides, not just my right side. Key word: 'starting'.

Jenny and I tried to get Alanna to show us how to sink to the bottom of the pool but that is hard! It's not like we are rocks. Alanna can do it but we cannot, yet. One day, I will go down there and hang out, have a tea or something, but not today.

The kids who see us swimming laugh at us. They think we are really funny. They don't laugh in a bad way, really, more like they can't figure out why their teachers are not fish, when it is so easy to them. But, they have probably been swimming everyday for the past 10 years, since they have been in school, so we can understand that. We are still there, working our butts off!

And speaking of butts, we can feel muscles aching where we didn't know we had muscles. Jenny pointed out her newly found arm muscles to one of our coworkers today and he said that we were already hot because we have beautiful personalities. It sounded nice but I'm pretty sure that's just what people tell fat girls (Jenny, we need to reevaluate the situation).

3 weeks in... the callouses are built up and we are swimming lanes now... we need to build up endurance but we are doing really well considering just 11 short workouts ago, we were doing nothing. 10 short workouts ago, we were nearly dead from the vag-busters. 9 workouts ago, we were kicked out of swimming. In 4 short workouts (not including the weekend), we will be celebrating our 4 week challenge. I am nearly sick with excitement.

While we are not quite to the point of running yet, we will get there. We are soon to the point of making our next challenge. We can do the running man dance in preparation.

Our group is so good for each other.

Lots of you are reading the blog, you say, and getting inspired. I hope that's true. Tell us what you're doing. :) I'll edit you in and we can have a whole group of people being Try-Athletes all over the place. You'll be our satellite group(s). If you need courage or a pep talk, message us and we will be your cheerleaders. Sometimes we need cheerleading, too, and your comments are inspiring to us. Just your reading the blog is so fantastic!
